THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb men's basketball fell behind early and the deficit proved too much to overcome as the Bisons fell 82-61 in its second game of the Northern Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Bowling Green won the tip,
Owen McCormack denied the first shot of the game with a block and
Will Pruitt converted on the Bisons' end for a 2-0 Lipscomb lead.
The Falcons, however, went on a 7-0 run to jump out in front. At the first media timeout, Lipscomb found itself behind 10-7 with 15:39 to play in the half.
Out of the break, Bowling Green heated up with a 6-0 run, forcing a timeout from Lipscomb head coach
Lennie Acuff.
After the timeout,
Owen McCormack nailed a couple of big triples to keep the Bisons in striking distance. At the second media timeout, the Falcons held a 20-13 advantage.
Throughout the final minutes of the first half, however, Bowling green went on an extended 25-10 run, jumping out to a 45-23 advantage at the half.
The Bisons continued to struggle out of the halftime gate, but started to figure things out heading into the final 15 minutes of the game. The Bisons utilized a 14-3 run, with eight of those points scored by
Will Pruitt, over more than four minutes, cutting the Bowling Green lead 62-50 with 10:08 to play.
Bowling Green called a timeout after the Lipscomb run and was able to gain composure and got its lead back out to a comfortable 15-points with 7:15 left to play.
The Lipscomb deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Bisons fell to Bowling Green 82-61 in its second game of the Northern Classic.
HERD NOTES
- Lipscomb shot 40-percent from the field while Bowling Green connected at a 60-percent clip.
- Pruitt led the way for the second-consecutive game with 14 points and five rebounds.
- Dylan Faulkner had the only other double-digit performance with 10 points.
