PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Lipscomb Women's Golf sits atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Lady Bison Classic at Bay Point. As a team, Lipscomb turned in a 291 (+3) on the day and sits four-strokes ahead of second place.
Lipscomb's
Lauren Thompson leads after the first round after carding a 68 (-4), which set a course record at Nicklaus Course. Thompson had five birdies in the first round to go with 12 pars.
The teams representing the ASUN all had impressive first rounds as Florida Gulf Coast University and North Alabama sit in second and third, respectively. The top-five is rounded out by Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville.
As a squad, Lipscomb led in Par 3 scoring (+3) and Par 5 scoring (-7) while Florida Gulf Coast led the way in Par 4 scoring (+9). Charleston Southern posted the most Pars on the round (58) while FGCU had a field-leading 14 birdies. Murray State and Lipscomb had one eagle each.
Other top individuals in round one include
Siarra Stout of Lipscomb who sits in second place by two strokes with a 70 (-2) and Sarah Frazier of Dayton who sits right behind in third (71). Ally Ker of UNC Asheville, Leonie Wulfers of FGCU and Sarah Fisher of North Alabama are all even with par after shooting a 72 on Sunday.
