Bisons Tally Six Homers in Friday Win Over Royals

Final Score: Lipscomb: 15, Queens (N.C.): 10
Location: Charlotte, N.C. (Tuckaseegee Dream Fields)
Records:  Lipscomb: (8-13, 3-1 ASUN), Queens (N.C.) (3-18, 0-4 ASUN)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lipscomb had an outstanding day at the plate, including six home runs, tied for the most in a single game since 2012. The Bisons also tallied the most runs in a game this season thanks to 13 hits in game one. The squad also saw multi-hit outings from four different players.

The Bisons loaded the bases in the opening inning but the Royals got out of the jam to keep the contest scoreless. After retiring the side in the bottom half, Lipscomb rallied off four runs in the top of the second.

Will Lee singled to left center to open the inning. Chaz Bertolani then reached on a fielder's choice then Parks Bouck reached on a throwing error to score the Bisons' first run.

Two runners were left on for Caleb Ketchup, who belted his fifth homer of the season and first of two homers of the day to give the Bisons a four-run lead.

The Royals answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half after a grand slam for a 4-4 score. However, the Bisons' bats continued producing with four more runs in the top of the third.

Jake Berg led things off with a solo shot to center field. Austin Kelly followed with a doubled down the right field line, and Lee singled to center, advancing Kelly to third.

Chaz Bertolani slapped a bunt to the pitcher, allowing Kelly to score from third. Later in the inning, Ketchup notched his second homer of the day to give the Bisons an 8-4 advantage.

The Bisons would go on to score seven more runs, including homers from Parks Bouck and Trace Willhoiite, finishing with 15 runs in game to open the series in Charlotte.

Queens (N.C.) scored their fair share of runs, but Lipscomb's offense was too much to handle for the home team in game one. As a result, Lipscomb earns their third straight victory in ASUN play in a 15-10 decision and their eight win of the year.
