HOW IT HAPPENED

After pitching a three-hit complete-game shutout in last Sunday's matchup with Jacksonville to win the series, Noah Thompson topped that performance with a one-hit complete-game shutout to win the series against Queens (N.C.) Sunday afternoon.

The Bisons took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as Chaz Bertolani sent a single through the right side to plate Trace Willhoite. After the play, the contest moved into an hour and 52-minute weather delay due to storms in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area.

Depsite the long delay, the Bisons picked up where they left off, scoring two runs to close the inning. Caleb Ketchup reached on a throwing error allowing Will Lee and Jake Berg to score.

Lipscomb added two more runs to their total in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Mason Lundgrin, which brought home Alex Vergara after he singled to left early in the order. Then, Trace Willhoite's solo homered to left field to increase the Bisons' advantage to five.

Insurance runs kept piling on in the top of the eighth as another ball was sent out of the park, this time from the bat of Austin Kelly, to move the score to 7-0.

The last run for the Bisons came at the top of the ninth on a ground out by Trace Willhiote that allowed Mason Lundgrin to take home plate.

Although the Bisons managed to string together timely hits throughout the contest, Noah Thompson kept the Royals out of the game, pitching a complete game with ten strikeouts while giving up just one hit the came in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. Thompson finished with just one walk, allowing only four bases runners in 105 pitches.
