Lipscomb got things going quickly when Caleb Ketchup led off with a home run for a quick 1-0 Lipscomb lead heading into the bottom of the first. Georgia Tech threatened in the bottom of the inning, but Alex Vergara robbed a home run in deep center, which would've given Georgia Tech a 2-1 lead, with a spectacular play to keep the Yellowjackets off the board.

The Bisons struck again in the second inning when Chaz Bertolani rocketed a solo home run for a 2-0 advantage. Parks Bouck got in on the action with a single and a stolen base for another runner in scoring position, but he was stranded when a strikeout ended the half inning.

Georgia Tech battled back in the bottom of the second with a couple leadoff knocks to quickly cut the lead in half. Shortly after, the Yellowjackets took a 4-2 lead after a three-run homer. The Georgia Tech lead expanded to 5-2 when another run crossed the plate before the end of the second inning.

The Bisons threatened in the top of the third with runners on the corners, but a pop fly ended the inning with Georgia Tech still holing a 5-2 lead. The Yellowjackets added a pair of runs in the home half of the inning for a 7-2 advantage.

Bertolani stayed hot with a leadoff single to start the fourth. He advanced to second when Bouck notched his second hit of the day for a pair of runners with just one out. The runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch, putting both in scoring position with two outs, but a fly ball to center field ended the Lipscomb inning.

The Yellowjackets tacked on another pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-2 lead.

Vergara hit Lipscomb's third home run of the day with a solo shot to lead off the top of the fifth inning, cutting into the Georgia Tech lead 9-3. The offense started to get going with base knocks from Trace Willhoite and Austin Kelly for a pair of one-out base runners to put pressure on the Georgia Tech defense. Lipscomb scored another run on a Yellowjackets error, further cutting into the lead 9-4 at the middle of the fifth.

Joey Mitchell, who came into the game out of the bullpen, carved up the top of the Georgia Tech order in the bottom of the fifth with a quick three up, three down inning to keep Lipscomb in striking distance.

The sixth inning was scoreless on both sides of the ball, thanks in part to an impressive defensive play by Ketchup for the final out of the bottom of the sixth, keeping the score 9-4 in favor of Georgia Tech.

After a scoreless sixth and seventh, Georgia Tech scored a run in the bottom of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, Ketchup connected on his second extra-base hit of the game with a leadoff double to the center field fence. Vergara followed it up with a knock through the right side, putting runners on the corners with no outs. After two quick strikeouts, Austin Kelly sent a chopper up the middle for an infield single that scored Ketchup for a 10-5 score. Georgia Tech ultimately got the three outs needed to secure the 10-5 victory.
