HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb took care of business, avenging their loss to Tennessee Tech earlier in the season with a 4-1 win at Ken Dugan Field Tuesday night.
The Bisons broke the scoring drought in the second inning on a home run from reigning ASUN Player of the Week, Austin Kelly, who went yard for the team-leading 13th time this season.
Hayden Skipper started in right field and made the most of his opportunities at the plate, hitting his first career homer in the purple and gold in the third inning to give the Bisons a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Eagles were held at bay in each of the nine innings played except in the fifth where Tennessee Tech scored their lone run on a passed ball.
Lipscomb added an insurance run in the sixth as Skipper notched his second hit of the day on a singled to left center to plate Jake Berg. Their final run came in the eighth on a single through the left side to score Parks Bouck.
The Bisons' pitching and defense controlled the contest, holding the Golden Eagles to just six hits, two double plays, nine strikeouts, and most importantly, no errors.
Michael Dunkelberger earned the win after getting the start and pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, improving hims to 2-4 on the hill. Hayden Frank received his second save of the season, closing out the final inning to secure the victory. Coach Forehand's bunch has won eight of their last ten and the win also moved the Bisons to an even 16-16 on the year.
