Bisons Dismantle Governers in 16-3 Victory

Final Score: Lipscomb: 16, Austin Peay: 3
Location: Clarksville, Tenn. (Raymond C. Hand Park)
Records: Lipscomb: (30-21, 20-6 ASUN), Austin Peay (23-28, 13-13 ASUN)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb dominated the Governors for the second straight day and cruised to a 16-3 run-rule win in Clarksville to win their ninth straight ASUN series this season.

After hitting two two-run blasts in game one of the series, Trace Willhoite added a third on the weekend, giving Lipscomb an early 2-0 lead in the first frame after Mason Lundgrin walked in the at-bat prior.

Braydon Tucker got the call again for the Bisons on Saturday. Two singles opened the Austin Peay frame, but Tucker got the force out at third in the next at-bat and popped up the next two Governers to get out of the inning unscathed.

Lundgrin added to the Bisons' lead in his next at-bat, going yard for the third time this season, increasing their lead to three runs in the top of the third.

Tucker held the Governors at bay for all five of his innings on the mound, not surrendering a run and just three hits allowed.

Willhoite continued his prolific weekend at the plate with another two-run rocket to give Lipscomb a 5-0 lead in the sixth frame.

Austin Peay answered in the bottom half with a two-run shot of their own, but Lipscomb had another sizable inning offensively, sending home a program-record 11 runs in the top of the seventh.

Lipscomb had just five hits in the frame but walked six times. The inning was capped off by a grand slam from Austin Kelly, his 17th of the year, which ties the program's single-season record.

The Governors put a run-up in the bottom half, but with the run rule in effect, Lipscomb cruised to a 16-3 win on Saturday and claimed their ninth straight ASUN series this season.
