HOW IT HAPPENED

The first minutes of the match saw Lipscomb with a majority of the possession. The first real chance for either side came in the 20' minute when Spicer whipped in a cross from the left side to a waiting Javanne Smith. However, the Memphis keeper dove off his line and punched the cross out of danger and the match remained scoreless.

The Bisons had another opportunity in the 26' minute when Memphis was whistled for a foul inside the box. The resulting penalty kick, however, banged off the crossbar, keeping the stalemate.

William Bryan came into the match in the 32' minute and made an immediate impact up front. The forward got on the end of a pair of shots, but they went just wide and were saved, respectively, sending the match to halftime scoreless.

Memphis had a few looks in the opening minutes of the first half, but Juan Carlos Rodriguez and the Memphis defense kept the Tigers off the board.

In the 61' minute, Malachi Jones slipped in behind the defense and rocketed a shot that skimmed just above the woodwork.

The Bisons continued on the offensive and Jones beat the entire Memphis defense to a ball in the 64' minute, but was taken down about 25 yards from goal. Spicer stood over the free kick outside the top right corner of the box. He curled the ball over everyone and just inside the far post for a 1-0 Lipscomb lead.

In the 74' minute, Memphis was awarded a free kick just outside the box. The Tigers leveled when the kick found a player at the back post who put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-1 game.

Both teams had chances in the final minutes of the match, but neither was able to break the stalemate for a 1-1 final.
