Box Score NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule over the weekend at the June Stewart Invitational, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
The Bisons played a strong set of singles play on Friday, led by
Sofiia Zhylchuk's three-set win over Sophia Schwartz of Purdue.
The student-athletes played as tight of a tennis match as you can, with the first two sets going to seven-point tiebreaks. In the opening frame, the sophomore transfer in Zhylchuk won the set with a 6-4 tiebreak, but Schwartz responded with an 8-6 win in the second set break.
Going to a 10-point tiebreak to decide the set, Zhylchuk edged out Schwartz by a 10-8 score.
Sofiia Paladi also defeated Andrea Nova of Ole Miss, 6-4, 6-4. Serafima Bobronikova made it three-for-three on the day in singles with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Ellie Morrow of Purdue.
On Saturday,
Mariia Dolzhenko and Zhylchuk picked up a 6-4 victory over Victoria Cooksey/Jovana Nikolic of Tennessee State.
Paladi also picked up one more singles victory on Sunday with a 6-0, 6-1 result against Asuncion Jadue of Kentucky.
