COLUMBIA, MO. – Lipscomb women's basketball made the road trip to play the Missouri Tigers and despite being down just one point at the half, the Bisons fell short in a 78-57 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb got off to a hot start against Missouri, posting an 8-0 run 4 minutes into the matchup to lead 11-4. The Bisons led by as much as 7 points in the first quarter and the Tigers by as much as 4 with 7 lead changes in the first 10 minutes. By the beginning of the second quarter,
Molly Heard led all players with 8 points on 3-5 shooting and the Bisons trailed 24-22 while shooting 57.1% from behind the arc.
The second quarter was just as competitive for both squads, despite Lipscomb not recording any 3-pointers, going 0-6. The Bisons got into the paint with notable buckets from
Taylor Bowen,
Addison Melton, and
Bella Vinson to keep Lipscomb neck-and-neck with Missouri. The trio dominated the interior, recording 8 points and 6 rebounds in the second quarter. Lipscomb anticipated leading at the half until a Tiger made a layup at the buzzer to put Missouri up 35-34 before the last 20 minutes of play.
Claira McGowan led the third quarter for the Bisons, recording 5 points and an assist. After the break, McGowan breathed new life into the Lipscomb offense, scoring off 2 field goals, one of which she finished through contact and earned a trip to the line from which she capitalized. Her efforts weren't enough to keep the Bisons within single digits of the Tigers, and Lipscomb went into the fourth quarter down 56-46.
The Tigers ran away with the final quarter of play, scoring 22 points between 4 players.
Jalyn Holcomb finished strong, scoring 7 of the 11 points in the fourth for the Bisons. Despite the Bisons' willingness to fight through the adversity, Missouri shot 50% from the floor in the final 10 minutes and grabbed 11 rebounds to Lipscomb's 7. Missouri added another tally to the win column in a 78-57 victory over the Purple and Gold.
