FLORENCE, Ala. -Â Lipscomb Baseball earned their second straight win with an 8-2 decision in their series opener with North Alabama Thursday night.Â
Friday's starter for the Bisons, Alex Brewer, gave Lipscomb everything they needed in the series opener and his league-leading seventh start of the year. The graduate right-handed pitcher held North Alabama scores for the first six frames.
Lipscomb could not get anything going offensively until they broke the scoreless affair in the seventh with two runs coming on an RBI single from Mason Lundgrin and a double that brought home two from Austin Kelly.Â
The Lions got two runs back on two solo home runs, getting back all but one run in the bottom half of the seventh to cut the third deficit down to one at 3-2.Â
In the eighth, in a pinch-hitting role, Noah Boughton singled through the right side to score Will Lee from second and added an extra run of insurance for the Bisons
Lipscomb added four more runs in the frame coming on an error by the Lions and then three straight RBI singles with two outs from Kelly, Trace Willhoite, and Parks Bouck to put the Bisons in front 8-2.Â
Brewer retired the Lions in order in the eighth and then handed over the reins to Jake Lynch, who got the three outs in the ninth to give Lipscomb their second straight victory.Â
