Rally Attempt Cut Short in Sunday's 6-5 Loss to North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Lipscomb baseball could not secure their first series sweep of the season, falling in a one-run game to North Florida Sunday afternoon 6-5. The Bisons won the series with victories on Friday and Saturday, scoring a combined 37 runs.

Both starting pitchers held serve for the first three innings as neither team produced any offense.

North Florida broke the silence in the fourth inning with a three spot on a two-run triple and a bunt single in the following at-bat.

Lipscomb showed resilience at the top of the fifth, with David Coppedge's solo home run and Mason Lundgrin's RBI single, bringing the Bison within a run.

The Ospreys scored another run in the bottom half on an RBI single through the left side.

Jacob Tobias homered in back-to-back games with a two-run shot to right field in the seventh, which drew the Bisons back within one, but North Florida created more separation in the seventh, scoring on a fielding error by the Bisons to go up 6-4.

Lipscomb scored one run on a Lundgrin RBI single to right center in their last at-bats of the ninth but wasn't able to get to anything out of the opportunity with the go-ahead run at the plate, falling 6-5 to the Ospreys Sunday afternoon.
