Men’s Tennis Caps Off Regular Season with Pair of ASUN Wins, Earns Sweep on Senior Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis concluded their regular season slate of matches this week with a pair of conference matches. The Bisons claimed a gritty 4-3 win over Bellarmine on Friday before showing out with a 7-0 sweep over Austin Peay for their Senior Day match on Sunday.
 
FRIDAY: LIPSCOMB 4, BELLARMINE 3
The Bisons struck early with a decisive pair of doubles wins from courts one and three to get things going.
 
Youngsters Henrique Ushizima and Matheus Lima delivered a 6-0 win on court three to get things started in Lipscomb's favor before Krzysztof Wetoszka and Sebastian Dominguez clinched the doubles point for the Purple and Gold with their 6-3 win on court one.
 
Facundo Perlov and Carlos Salas Tulla were ahead 4-3 in their battle on court two when the doubles point was decided and their match was abandoned.
 
The Knights tied things up as singles play got under way, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 win on court one over Krzysztof Wetoszka to bring the match tied at one point all.
 
Facundo Perlov brought the Bisons back into the lead with his 6-4, 6-3 win on court six before Bellarmine tied things once more with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court four over Matheus Lima.
 
The Bisons then entered clinching territory as Carlos Salas Tulla logged a 6-1, 7-5 win on court five to give the Purple and Gold a 3-2 lead.
 
The Knights refused to go quietly, however, and brought things tied once more with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win on court two over Henrique Ushizima to bring the match to a 3-3 tie.
 
Sebastian Dominguez battled hard with his opponent on court three before delivering an impressive 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win to clinch the match for the Bisons.
 
SUNDAY: LIPSCOMB 7, AUSTIN PEAY 0
As the Bisons' Senior Day showdown with local foe Austin Peay began, the Bisons took the doubles point early and ran away with the momentum throughout the rest of the match.
 
The Bisons earned the first win in doubles play with a 6-3 win on court three from Matheus Lima and Henrique Ushizima but the Governors tied things up with a 6-2 win on court two over Facundo Perlov and Carlos Salas Tulla.
 
Sebastian Dominguez and Krzysztof Wetoszka claimed a 6-3 win of their own on the top court to clinch the doubles point for the Bisons and give the Purple and Gold a one-point lead heading into singles play.
 
Matheus Lima kept things going in the Bisons' favor as he delivered a decisive 6-0, 6-4 win on court four to put the Bisons up 2-0 in the match.
 
A 6-4, 6-1 win from senior Carlos Salas Tulla on court five put the Bisons in clinching territory before Facundo Perlov clinched the match with his gritty 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 win on court six.
 
Henrique Ushizima claimed the insurance point for the Bisons with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win on court two and his momentum was carried on just a few minutes later as senior Sebastian Dominguez earned a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win on court three to push the Bisons into sweeping territory.
 
Graduate student Krzysztof Wetoszka brought home the Bisons final point of the match in a comeback 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at the top spot to cement the Bisons' 7-0 sweep over the Governors for their final regular season match.
