NASHVILLE - Lipscomb baseball hosted Belmont in their annual Battle of the Boulevard matchup Wednesday afternoon. A six-spot in the second for the Bruins made all the difference, as the Bisons fell 9-5 in the midweek showing with their rival.
After scoring a run in the first on a solo home run, the Bruins had a six-run second frame, coming on an RBI single, grand slam, and a solo homer, to take a 7-0 lead early in the midweek matchup.
After holding the Bruins scoreless in the third, the Bisons got back two runs on a two-run blast from David Coppedge, his second of the year, to cut the Bisons deficit to five runs at 7-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Austin Kelly earned his 33rd RBI of the season on a single through the right side, bringing the Bisons back within five at 8-3.
In the next frame, Coppedge belted his second homer of the afternoon, another solo shot to left field as the Bisons continued to chip away at the Bruins' lead.
