KENNESAW, Ga. -Â Lipscomb baseball dropped their 2024 regular-season finale to Kennesaw State 11-7 at Stillwell Stadium, as the Owls swept the Bisons after winning both games of a doubleheader on Thursday.Â
Lipscomb scored first in game three of the series on a solo home run from Austin Kelly, his 11th of the year, to take a one-run advantage in the second.Â
Kennesaw State answered in the bottom half of the second on an RBI single to right field. The Owls then extended their lead in the third, bringing home two runs on a double to left center.
A sacrifice fly from Trace Willhoite in the fifth cut the Bisons' deficit from two runs down to one, but the Owls were able to answer again in the fifth with their most significant frame of the afternoon.Â
Kennesaw State scored seven runs on five hits, including a grand slam, to take a 10-2 lead over the Bisons.Â
Lipscomb got two runs back in the seventh on a solo long ball from Parks Bouck and an RBI double from Mason Lundgrin, cutting into the Owls' lead. However, the Owls answered again like they had all afternoon, getting a run back on a solo homer in the seventh.
The Bisons had their most productive frame in the ninth, scoring three on a bases-clearing triple from Trace Willhoite, but the multi-run frame was not enough for the Bisons in the end.Â
