Baseball Wins Second Midweek Matchup Over MTSU this Season

NASHVILLE - Lipscomb baseball took care of business for the second time this season against MTSU, defeating the Blue Raiders (17-31, 5-13 CUSA) on Tuesday night 7-1 at Ken Dugan Field. All seven runs for the Bisons came in the third and fourth innings, while the Bisons' two pitchers, Chandler Giles and Evan Harmom, combined to allow just one run on five hits in Tuesday's victory.

The Bisons broke up a no-hitter in the third, then proceeded to bring two runs around to start their middle-inning surge. Trace Willhoite batted both runs in the frame with a double down the left-field line which put the Bisons up 2-0.

Lipscomb then put a five spot on the board in the fourth, starting with an RBI single through the left side by Carter Richey. Alex Vergara also doubled to left which score two more, followed by a pair of RBI doubles from Mason Lundgrin and Willhoite to round out the fourth-inning fireworks and put the Bisons up 7-0.

MTSU broke up the potential shutout in the sixth on a double down the left field line, but Lipscomb's pitching and defense held the Blue Raiders in check all night, allowing the Bisons to take a 7-1 midweek win into the final home weekend of the 2024.
