Kiara Pralle’s Hat Trick Leads Women’s Soccer ‘Into the Storm’ for 4-1 Win Over Ole Miss

Final Score: Lipscomb 4, Ole Miss 1
Location: Oxford, Miss. (Ole Miss Soccer Stadium)
Records: Lipscomb (4-2-1), Ole Miss (5-4-0)

Lipscomb women's soccer left Oxford, Miss. with a dominant 4-1 win over SEC opponent Ole Miss for their first road game victory this season led by senior Kiara Pralle's hat trick.

The weather in Oxford was nothing short of unideal with consistent rain the entire match. Lipscomb and Ole Miss were both slipping and sliding on the field, finding it difficult to gain traction throughout the match. The Bisons' tagline of 'Into the Storm' became fitting quickly as Lipscomb made it known early the weather would not deter them from seeking a win.

Freshman London De Fini was the first player to put the Bisons on the board in the 27' minute of the game. De Fini launched a shot from the left of the 18-yard box that the keeper wasn't able to bat away. Her goal was the first to make it past the Ole Miss goalkeeper this season and it brought an undeniable energy to Lipscomb's team.

De Fini's goal was the only one scored by either team in the first half. By the time the squads were sent to their locker rooms to prepare for the second half, Ole Miss was only able to fire off 4 shots and Lipscomb with 5. Both teams had recorded an equal number of corner kicks with 2 each and the game was looking evenly matched between the Bisons and Rebels.

Kiara Pralle had an outstanding second half. Not only did she record a hat trick, but each of her three goals was scored within under 6 minutes. Her first goal of the match and fourth goal of the season was scored in the former half of the 63' minute. Bella Carapazza threw the ball off a corner kick to Pralle who was able to control the possession and score while the keeper was out of the goal. Carapazza's assist is her third of the season and her second off a corner kick.

It wasn't long before Ole Miss responded with a goal of their own in an effort to make a comeback. At the 65:24 mark, the Rebels scored an assisted goal. Just 24 seconds later at the 65:48 mark, Kiara Pralle was able to find the net for a second time in the match, crushing the spirits that the Rebels had just lifted. Pralle shot the ball low at the top of the box and aimed for the bottom right corner of the goal, where it rolled right past the keeper.

It took Pralle a mere 119 seconds before she found the net again, scoring at the 67:47 mark in the match. Kiara found herself on a break down the field and used her nondominant foot in stride to send the ball past the goalkeeper for her third and final goal on the afternoon. Pralle took each of Lipscomb's three shots in the second half to create a sizable distance between the Bisons and the Rebels.

Both Lipscomb's offense and defense were exemplary in their road win. Offensively the Bisons were extremely efficient. Lipscomb took 8 shots, 50% being on goal, and 100% of those shots on goal resulting in scores. Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar had an outstanding performance, recording 6 saves on 7 shots on goal against the experienced SEC team. In contrast, Ole Miss recorded 19 shots, 37% of which were on goal and 14% of their shots on goal resulting in scores. The Rebels recorded no saves against the Lipscomb offense.

Lipscomb begins their conference play on Sept. 19th when they travel to play EKU. The Bisons will kick off at 3:00 PM in Richmond, KY., and will look to start their conference season on a high note.
