SCORING SUMMARY
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons looked good early with a quick bout of offense in the 3' minute when
Dan Karsten worked his way through the Panthers' defense to get a shot off. His shot was blocked, but
Daniel Stampatori was there to put another shot up, forcing an early Georgia State save.
Lipscomb tested the Georgia State keeper once again in the 15' minute when
Javanne Smith put in a curling shot from distance that forced a diving save.
The Bisons continued to stay in control, but Georgia State scored against the run of play in the 23' minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
Momentum, however, didn't shift in Georgia State's favor. The Bisons continued to put pressure on the Panthers. In the 37' minute Karsten had a bending shot that forced yet another diving save. A few minutes later
Tyler Stinnett sent in a shot that was saved by the keeper's fingertips. On the resulting corner kick,
Baxter Hurt got a shot off that grazed just over the bar and Georgia State held onto a 1-0 advantage at the half.
Lipscomb continued to pepper the Georgia State goal with shots in the 61' and 69' minutes that were near goals. The goal nearly came in the 72' minute when Smith forced another impressive save and
Luca Naumann put the ball just above the crossbar on the rebound.
Smith found the Bisons' opening goal in the 76' minute when he put in a long throw from the left side. The ball grazed off the keeper's fingers and into the back of the net for a 1-1 game.
The Bisons continued to press and
Roen Davis cashed in when he weaved through a host of defenders and slotted the ball home in the 83' minute for a 2-1 advantage.
Lipscomb defended well for the final minutes, including a big time save by
Juan Carlos Rodriguez in the 88' minute to see out the 2-1 victory.
