Cross Country Takes Over Trevecca Opener

NASHVILLE, TN – Lipscomb's men's and women's cross country teams both placed first at the Trevecca Opener for their second meet of the season on the morning of Sept. 7th.
 
The women's 5k started at 8:00 AM CT at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, TN.  The women finished four athletes in the top five finishers, all of whom ran the race within 10 seconds of each other, Mackenzie Barnett led the Bisons in second place overall with a time of 17:51.9 followed consecutively by Colbi Borland (17:52.0), Leonie Saurer (17:52.0), and Sydney Liddle (18:01.4).
 
Juane' Klaus, Ella Johnson, and Kaylee Wilson also finished in the top 10. Klaus finished in 7th with a time of 18:57.4, Johnson in 8th with a time of 18:58.1, and Wilson in 10th with a time of 19:26.4. Carly Miller crossed the finish line in 18th to complete the Bisons' race day, the team earning a score of 15 with an average time of 18:07, 53 points ahead of second place.
 
The men's team started their 5k at 8:50 AM CT and was led by overall winner of the meet, Brady Yingst. Yingst finished the race in 15:10.3 to help Lipscomb earn 15 points and an average time of 15:29. Lipscomb men's cross country placed five runners in the top 10, each crossing the finish line within less than a minute of Yingst.
 
Levi Streeval finished fifth overall with a time of 15:20.9 as the second Bisons to complete the race, Cole Kimmel ran a 15:29.1 to finish 7th, Trey Haralson ran a 15:38.0 to finish 8th, and Andy Stohr ran a 15:43.4 to finish 10th.  
 
Finishing in the top 20 for Lipscomb were Connor Sarkovics (15:45.8) to cross 13th, Sam Widmaier (15:48.3) in 14th, and Philip Lamartiniere (15:57.3) for 16th. Lipscomb was rounded out by Michael Polizzi with a 16:48.5 time to place 22nd and Gavin Bacus with a 17:05.8 finish to place 27th.
 
The Bisons will compete in their next race at the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin University in Madison, WI. The meet will take place on Sept. 27th and will be held at the Zimmer Championship Course.
