HOW IT HAPPENED
North Carolina wasted little time getting on the board with a 1-0 lead in the 4' minute. After an initial save by
Alex Kara, the Bisons' defense couldn't get the ball cleared and the Tarheels took advantage for the early lead.
Lipscomb started to find the game and had a good attack in the 13' minute. The Bisons got a two-vs-one on the left side, and
Mason Cooper sent a dangerous cross in front of goal. UNC was able to clear the ball just before it got to the feet of a waiting
William Bryan.
The Tarheels relentless pressure continued, and Kara made another clutch save in the 14' minute to keep the advantage at a goal.
North Carolina was able to link up in the box once again and convert for a second goal in the 19' to put the Bisons in a 2-0 deficit.
The Bisons began to find more possession and had the ball in its attacking third more in the coming minutes. In the 31' minute, substitute
Robert Rodriguez found some space and rocketed a shot that was blocked by the UNC defense.
Lipscomb's best look of the night came in the 37' minute when Jones and
Diego Ramirez linked up on the left side. Ramirez sent a ball to a waiting Jones who was one-on-one with the keeper at the near post. The keeper was positioned well and forced the shot just wide of frame.
The score held through the final minutes of the first frame.
In the second frame, North Carolina scored in the 85' minute for a 3-0 advantage. The score held to the final whistle as the Bisons fell 3-0.
