THE SHORT STORY

HOW IT HAPPENED

After a couple of scoreless possessions, the Bisons caught fire from beyond the arc. Lipscomb made four early triples to take a 12-4 lead before the first media timeout.

Lipscomb continued to extend its lead when Grant Asman nailed a triple out of the break. The Bisons went on an extended 22-7 run, which saw the team build a 26-7 advantage at the under-eight timeout.

Ethan Duncan scored Lipscomb's sixth trey out of the timeout, but Marshall got a little momentum with five-straight points, cutting the Lipscomb lead 29-12, prompting a Kevin Carroll timeout.

Just before the under-eight media, Marshall launched an 11-0 run, cutting into the Lipscomb lead 36-23 with 2:59 left in the half.

Lipscomb's offense began to taper off from an electric start, but its defense forced 11 turnovers in the opening 18 minutes to keep the gap at double-digits with two minutes left in the frame.

The Bisons scored the final two buckets of the half to take a 43-27 advantage into the halftime locker room.

After 20 minutes of play, Lipscomb was shooting at a staggering 57% and 54% from beyond the arc while holding Marshall to 31% and 27%, respectively.

Out of the locker room, Lipscomb didn't let up. The Bisons scored two quick back-door buckets, making the score 47-28 to force an early timeout from The Herd.

Lipscomb stayed hot from behind the arc as Sargiunas nailed his second triple of the night to give the squad a 54-30 advantage before the under-16 timeout.

The squads traded buckets in the next minutes as Lipscomb led 66-37 at the second media timeout of the half.

Lipscomb would score just one point in the next four minutes which allowed Marshall to mount a 7-0 run to close in on the Bisons, 67-48 as Carroll called a timeout.

Kennedy Okpara stopped the bleeding with a triple, making the advantage 70-48 with just under eight to play, and the Bisons never looked back.

Lipscomb stood its ground under heavy pressure from The Herd down the stretch and made five of its last six field goals for an 86-67 advantage with one minute to play.
