VALDOSTA, Ga. – Lipscomb Men's Golf sits in seventh place after the first round of the ASUN Championship on Tuesday. The Bisons shot a 285 (-3) on the day.
Minas Manias leads the way for the Bisons, tied for third place. Manias shot a 68 (-4) in the first round and is tied with three other athletes for third. They sit four strokes behind leader Noah Blaickner 64 (-8) of Central Arkansas. Manias started off strong with a birdie, but a pair of bogeys to go with another birdie had him even through the first nine. He caught fire after the turn, with four birdies over the back nine.
Sam Potter and
Jack Morris are tied at 26
th, both shooting an even to par, 72 on the day. Potter was even after a bogey and a birdie on the front nine and had a roller coaster over the final nine holes with three bogeys and three birdies to finish even. Morris was at (+1) when he made the turn, but managed a (-1) over the back nine to come even when the round was done.
Jaron Leasure and
Alejandro Rodriguez are just a stroke behind the pair at 73 (+1) and sit tied for 39
th.

"It was a slow start for the Bisons on the first nine holes. We played a bit defensively. A strong back nine provides more opportunities to push to the top of the leaderboard these next two rounds. When we putt a bit better and avoid bogeys these next two rounds, we are certain to move up the scoreboard. I am proud of this group of young men."
