DURHAM, N.C. – Lipscomb Men's Golf kicked off its 2025-26 campaign this weekend at the Rod Myers Invitational hosted by Duke University. The squad, largely made up of new faces, had a strong showing, finishing fifth out of 10 in the field, finishing under par with an 863 (-1).
The Bisons' best round of the weekend came in the first round, shooting a 285 (-3) to open up things up. The next two rounds, Lipscomb fired off a 288 and 290 to finish at 863 (-1).
Lipscomb's most consistent Bison all weekend was
Toby Bishop, who finished tied for 11
th in the field. Bishop started off with a 71 (-1) before ripping off his best round of the tournament, a 70 (-2) in the second round. Bishop struggled on the final day, ending with a 74 (+2). Bishop ultimately connected with nine birdies and was consistent with 36 pars.
Two other Bisons tied with Bishop in 11
th place, to lead the squad in veteran
Minas Manias and newcomer
Rio Saigal. Manias was a consistent presence throughout the first two rounds, scoring a 72 (E) and a 73 (+1) in the first and second rounds, respectively. Manias saved his best round for the last round, shooting a 70 (-3) to shoot 14 spots up the leaderboard. He finished the weekend with eight birdies and 37 pars. He also had an eagle on a par 5 on hole nine in his final round.
Saigal also finished with a 215 (-1) in his first collegiate tournament. Saigal was under par heading into the final round with a 71 (-1) in each of the first two rounds. Saigal finished with a 73 (+1) in the final round. He led Lipscomb with 13 birdies on the tournament in addition to 30 pars.
Team scoring was rounded out by
Oakley Gee and
Maxi Klaus. Gee finished his weekend tied for 31
st, with round scores of 72, 73, 75 (+4), while Klaus finished tied for 50
th with scores of 76, 76, 73 (+9). In his first outing as a Bison, Gee connected on 12 birdies and 28 pars. Klaus had nine birdies with 30 pars.
Three young Bisons in
Grant Tabar,
Ciaran Murphy and
Alexander Moldrup got an opportunity to compete as individuals.
Tabar finished with a strong showing, tying for 38
th with scores of 74, 73, 75 (+6) while Murphy finished a stroke over at (+7) and tied for 41
st. He recorded round scores of 75, 72, 76. Moldrup finished in 66
th place at (+17) with scores of 81, 72, 79.
