VALDOSTA, Ga. – Lipscomb Men's Golf is in third place after two rounds at the ASUN Championship with an overall score of 571 (-5). The Bisons improved one stroke on its score from the first round with a 285 (-3) on the day.
Lipscomb's best performance of the second round came from
Alexander Moeldrup, who went (-5) on Wednesday. He started off strong with four birdies over the first nine holes for a 32 (-4) at the turn. His birdie frenzy continued with back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11. He stayed steady throughout his round with six consecutive pars and a bogey on 18 to finish with a 67 (-5). His round tied for the second-best in the field on the day. Overall, he is tied for fifth place at (-5) after going an even 72 on Tuesday.
Minas Manias sits right behind at (-3) and tied for 12
th. After having the best first round for Lipscomb on Tuesday, he followed that up with a 73 (+1) on Wednesday. His second round started bumpy, going (+4) over the first nine holes, but he was able to get things together over the back nine with four birdies and four pars to salvage a 73 (+1) on the day to keep him near the top of the field.
Toby Bishop is tied for 22
nd with a (+2) over the first two rounds. Bishop improved two strokes in his second round, finishing an even 72 on the day. He had an up and down day, starting with bogeys on holes one and three, but birdies on holes seven and nine saw him even at the turn. He stayed even at the end of his round after three birdies and three bogeys bolstered three pars on the back nine.
Lipscomb's final counting score of the day came from
Rio Saigal, who carded a 73 (+1). He was (+2) over the first nine with bogeys on holes one and four, but Saigal locked in and fired off nine pars before a birdie on 14. Four more pars in his final four holes saw him go (-1) over the back nine. All told, he is tied for 33
rd at 149 (+5).
Ciaran Murphy is tied for 29
th place in the field at 148 (+4) after going 76 (+4) on Wednesday. Although he connected on a pair of birdies, he was (+2) in the first nine and carded two more bogeys after the turn for an overall round score of 76 (+4) to go with his 72 (E) on Tuesday.
The Bisons will tee off from hole one on Thursday for the final round of play. Saigal will kick things off with a 7:00 a.m. CT tee time. The Bisons will tee off in 10-minute increments, ending with
Minas Manias at 7:40 a.m. CT.
