Baseball Evens Weekend Series with 11-4 Win over Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bisons scored in seven of the nine innings and saw stellar pitching on the mound to take the second game of the three-game series with Bellarmine University, 11-4, Saturday afternoon from Knights Field.

Final Score: Lipscomb 11, Bellarmine 4
Location: Louisville, Kentucky (Knights Field)
Records: Lipscomb (24-25, 16-10), Bellarmine (13-37, 8-18)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons had runners on the corners right out of the gate. With David Coppedge, he sent the ball to third base and a Luke Scales throwing error saw Brady Miller score on the play.

Kai Holm followed up with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 lead after a half inning.

Bellarmine got one of the runs back in the bottom of the first thanks to a bases-loaded walk by Eli Watson.

In the third, the Bisons made it a two-run advantage again, 3-1, thanks to an RBI groundout by Damion Kenealy Jr.

The runs continued to pour on in the top of the fourth. After a pitching change to start the inning, Casey Sunseri greeted Zach Horwith with a deep shot over the right field wall for his second home run of the season to make it a 4-1 lead.

In the fifth, Jake Berg joined in on the home run parade for the Bisons thanks to a two-run bomb to right field that extended the lead to 6-1. For Berg, it was the second homer in as many games and his fifth overall in 2025.

Despite the Knights scoring once in the bottom of the fifth, Lipsomb added two in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the ninth to secure the win. In the ninth, Berg laced a triple down the right field line for his second career triple and put the Bisons in double digits in the run column.

KEY STATISTICS
Parks Bouck, Jake Berg and Casey Sunseri each had three hits on the afternoon. Sunseri added three RBI and a home run.

Adding three RBI, Berg went yard in back-to-back games and put together his second career triple in the win.

Bouck saw one of those hits go for extra bases via a double.

The trio of Rigo Ramos, Adam Switalski and Collin Bosley-Smith struck out nine batters and allowed six hits in the win. Ramos (3-4) tossed five innings with two earned runs and four hits and striking out five batters.

After Switalski pitched the sixth, Bosley-Smith threw the final three innings, facing the minimum, with three punchouts for his fourth save of the season.
