Women's Tennis Unveils 2025-26 Signing Class

NASHVILLE – Announced by head coach Jamie Aid, the Lipscomb women's tennis team will welcome two new Bisons to the upcoming 2025-26 roster this fall, as they are arriving on campus this week.

Leena Hamdan is the lone freshman who will join the squad, while Martina Bovio will transfer to Lipscomb for the upcoming year.

"We are bringing back all from last year but one, and Martina and Leena bring depth to our program for the upcoming year," said Aid. "Both of these girls are great for our culture. It's so hard to find players who want to commit to working hard on and off the court, and we have hit the jackpot with our roster because Martina and Leena are rounding out this seasoned group. I am excited for what we can do with this group."

Below are the new athletes to the team, including name, hometown, and high school.

Martina Bovio - Buenos Aires, Argentina - SEADEA - Loyola Marymount University
She appeared in 23 matches between singles and doubles for LMU in her freshman campaign, going a combined 7-16. She picked up her wins at the six spot in the lineup in singles.

She, along with teammate Fiona Arrese, was named Doubles Team of the Week on March 25 after winning two matches against Portland, 6-3, and Santa Clara, 7-5, that saw the Lions clinch the doubles point in both contests.

From Coach Aid:
Martina comes in as a girl who has a commitment to hard work. Bringing in a sophomore helps that depth immediately with such a seasoned team. We are very excited to have her on board and look for her to make an immediate impact.

Leena Hamdan - Brentwood, Tennessee - Nashville International Academy
Hamdan played tennis at the Ensworth School before transferring to the Nashville International Academy, where she earned her diploma.

While at Ensworth, she qualified for the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association Doubles Championship, where she and her partner advanced to the semifinals in 2024. She was also an All-State honoree.

From Coach Aid:
She could have gone a lot of places, but she decided to stay close to home in Nashville. Lenna loved Lipscomb and all her interactions on campus. She's a positive, hard-working person, and I think her game is going to really elevate because of this.

The Bisons are coming off a 2024-25 campaign with a 13-7 overall record and 6-3 in the ASUN. Additionally, the squad finished the year ranked ninth in the Ohio Valley Region, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
