HOW IT HAPPENED

Lipscomb had the first look of the match with a shot in the 4' minute that was easily blocked by the Lipscomb defense.

After that, the match turned in favor of the Bisons with great possession in the attacking third with several chances just in front of goal.

The Bisons nearly got on the board with a pair of shots in the 20' and 21' minute that were blocked inside the box. Lipscomb continued to be the aggressor, with several chances in front of goal and earned multiple corner kicks.

Another good look came in the 28' minute when a Luke Hanlon shot went wide.

Belmont, however, took advantage of a counter attack with Lipscomb numbers forward and put a ball in the back of the net in the 29' minute as Belmont took a 1-0 advantage.

In the 36' minute, the match was suspended due to lightning in the area.

After more than an hour of a weather delay, the sides retook the pitch and the match resumed under heavy rainfall.

The remaining 10 minutes of the first frame were scoreless as the Bisons had a 1-0 advantage at the break.

Lipscomb was the aggressor out of the break and Diego Ramirez had a good look at the top of the box that was just over the crossbar.

Against the run of play, a Belmont forward took the ball from the middle third and slipped behind the Lipscomb defense to net a second for a 2-0 Bruins advantage.

Lipscomb was peppering the Belmont box with crosses and shots and Levi Jones nearly found the back of the net with a shot just in front of goal, but the Belmont keeper was able to make the save to keep the Bisons off the board.

The Bisons continued to knock on the door, and Josiah Green took a shot from the top of the box that hit the post in the 67' minute.

Neither squad was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the match as Belmont defeated Lipscomb 2-0.
