NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Women's Basketball team wrapped up a weekend home stand with a 63-42 loss to Atlantic Sun Conference preseason favorite Florida Gulf Coast University, Saturday afternoon from Allen Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb used a quick 5-2 run thanks to
McKayla Miller to make it a 7-5 score with 7:34 left in the opening period, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Florida Gulf Coast swelled the lead to 13-5 with under six minutes remaining in the first quarter thanks to the Eagles knocking down four of their first five shots.
The Eagles made it an 11-point lead late in the first before back-to-back jumpers by
Hope Counts made it a 20-13 FGCU lead after one quarter.
In the second, the visitors used a 10-of-16 mark from the field, including ending the quarter on an 11-0 run to lead 41-22 at the break.
Lipscomb was able to outscore FGCU 14-12 in the third thanks to six points from
Taylor Bowen.
KEY STATISTICS
McKayla Miller led the Bisons with 16 points and six rebounds, while
Hope Counts grabbed nine rebounds and added seven points.
