JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb University Women's Basketball team has been picked third in the 2026-27 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
In addition, two Bisons, Hope Counts and McKayla Miller were named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team.
Counts, a sophomore from Crystal, Minnesota, shattered the Lipscomb freshman record for blocks in a season and finished third in the program's Division I history with 77 swats. She finished 10th in Division I in the category, and fifth in blocks per game (2.57).
Playing in all 30 games with 21 starts in 2025-26, Counts averaged 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Miller, a senior from Cimarron, Kansas, returns for her second season in a Lipscomb uniform. Appearing in 29 games with 28 starts, she is the team's returning top scorer with 12.3 points per game and a 38% field goal percentage.
She will be one of the jump starters of the team's 3-point shooting, as she was third in the league in percentage (34.7) and triples per game with 2.07.
Additionally, she, along with Counts, contributed for 126 of the team's program-best 182 blocks, in which the Bisons finished sixth in Division I last season in blocks per game with 6.1, and they were one of two non-Power Four schools that had six blocks per game or more (Hawaii).
Lipscomb has been predicted by the head coaches to finish third in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Bisons are looking to improve on a 10-20 season and to recover the injury bug that bit them multiple times last year.
FGCU and ASUN Tournament Champion Jacksonville split the vote on the top spot in the regular season in 2026-27. The Dolphins picked up four first-place votes, while the Eagles had three.
Now down to eight teams, Austin Peay Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama and West Georgia are no longer with the ASUN as they have moved to the United Athletic Conference.
West Florida begins its first year in Division I after a near three-decade stint at the Division II level.
The 2026-27 season will tip off with No. 9/8 Vanderbilt on Monday, Nov. 2 from Memorial Gymnasium. Tip off is scheduled for 11 a.m. from West End.
