STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Lipscomb University Baseball team suffered a 9-4 loss to No. 4 Mississippi State University in the second game of a three-game series, Friday night from Dudy Noble Field.
Mississippi State is ranked fourth in the nation by D1baseball and the USA Today Coaches Poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb saw a
Kai Holm single and a
Cole Pippenger walk to put ducks on the pond in the second inning, but a strikeout and pop out ended the threat.
Mississippi State counter with a two-run homer by Jacob Parker to get on the board first before adding four more, including a three-run bomb by Noah Sullivan to lead 6-0.
The Bisons did respond with two in the top of the third.
Hutson Miles got them on the board with a ground-rule double, and
Aaron Stelogeannis made it 6-2 with his base knock through the right side.
The score stayed that way until the sixth when the Bulldogs added two more, but in the top of the seventh, the Bisons countered again. Pinch-hitting,
Keaton Mahan hit a missile to right field to get one of the runs back, but the squad still trailed 8-3.
In the eighth, Lipscomb tacked on its fourth run with a base hit by
Kai Holm that saw Stelogeannis score on a misplay in left field.
MSU got the run back in the bottom half on an Andrew Raymond single. Unfortunately, the Bisons could not respond in the top half of the ninth.
KEY STATISTICS
Aaron Stelogeannis continues to rake in the series, adding two more hits on Friday night with an RBI.
Kai Holm went 3-for-4 on the night for the Bisons, while
Keaton Mahan went 1-for-2 with a pinch-hit homer.
