Sumski Announces 2026-27 Non-Conference Slate

Bisons will host local foes Austin Peay, Tennessee Tech and Belmont; will travel to Vanderbilt, MTSU and Georgia Tech
NASHVILLE – Announced by head coach Lauren Sumski on Thursday, the Lipscomb University Women's Basketball team has released its non-conference schedule.
Fourteen games will be a part of the out-of-conference slate, with five opponents that played in the postseason in 2025-26.
"Our non-conference schedule features opponents from the SEC, ACC, and the Big East, along with multiple teams that have been perennial winners at the mid-major level, which will prepare us for the pursuit of a championship," said Sumski. "Bisons fans can expect very competitive games and a team that displays toughness and togetherness every time we step on the floor together!"
The Bisons will start with a matchup with the Southeastern Conference, as they will head to West End to face in-city foe Vanderbilt, who advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, on Monday, Nov. 2. This will be the 10th time the two teams have met since Lipscomb's first full season of Division I in 2003-04.
On Nov. 5, the Bisons will head to Indianapolis, Indiana to face Butler out of the Big East Conference. This will be the second time the two teams have played on the hardwood, with the previous coming in 2017.
The Purple and Gold's home opener will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7 against Carolina University, an NAIA institution, as part of Bisons Weekend.
Following a home contest with Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 12, Lipscomb will head to Chattanooga on Nov. 15. The Mocs are one of two teams on the schedule that qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament, or WBIT.
Before Thanksgiving, another in-state foe will be on the schedule in Allen Arena, hosting Tennessee Tech on Monday, Nov. 23.
After Thanksgiving, the Bisons head to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee State on Monday, Nov. 30. The Blue Raiders advanced to the Super 16 of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, or WNIT, last year.
For the month of December, the Bisons will start with hosting Belmont on Thursday, Dec. 3 before finals. On Sunday, Dec. 6, the program will travel to Georgia Tech.
Lipscomb will play three games at home before the Christmas break, starting with Samford on Dec. 14.
The inaugural ASUN/UAC Crossover will feature four games from the newly formed United Athletic Conference, in partnership with Unisun Sports. The Bisons will host Austin Peay (Dec. 16) and Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 19) and will travel to West Georgia (Dec. 31) and North Alabama (Jan. 2) as a part of the crossover.
"We're excited for the release of our 2026-27 schedule and for Bisons fans to see the work that this team has been putting in since June," said Sumski. "This year's team is hungry to reach its full potential and compete for an ASUN championship, and we believe the competitiveness of our schedule will prepare us to learn and grow quickly while continuously improving all season."
Announced in July was the ASUN Conference schedule. The Bisons will start that portion of the schedule on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Bellarmine.
