Sciortino Leads Lipscomb to Fifth-Place Finish at JT Poston Invitational

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Lipscomb Men's Golf concluded the JT Poston Invitational with a fifth-place team finish Tuesday, closing the three-round tournament at 21-under par at the par-71 Waynesville Inn and Golf Club.
The Bisons finished with a three-round total of 831, posting team rounds of 278, 268 and 285. Lipscomb's second-round 268 helped push the Bisons into a tie for second entering Tuesday's final round before ultimately finishing fifth in the 17-team field.Â
Andrew Sciortino led the way for Lipscomb throughout the tournament, finishing tied for fourth individually at 10-under par (203). Sciortino opened with a 1-under 70 before firing a 5-under 66 in the second round. He continued his strong play Tuesday with a 4-under 67 to secure his top-five finish.Â
Ciaran Murphy joined Sciortino inside the top 10, finishing tied for 10th at 8-under (205). Murphy carded rounds of 69, 66 and 70, finishing under par in all three rounds of the tournament.Â
Angelo Martinez finished tied for 54th at 1-over (214). After opening with an even-par 71, Martinez delivered one of Lipscomb's strongest rounds of the tournament Monday with a 5-under 66 before closing with a 77.
Toby Bishop finished tied for 61st at 2-over (215) after rounds of 69, 70 and 76, while Grant Tabar rounded out the Bisons' five-man lineup tied for 64th at 3-over (216) with rounds of 70, 74 and 72.Â
Competing as an individual, Alexander Moeldrup put together a strong showing of his own, finishing 25th at 3-under (210). Moeldrup opened the tournament with a 2-under 69, followed with an even-par 71 in the second round and closed with a 1-under 70 on Tuesday.Â
Lipscomb finished behind South Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech and Southern Miss in the team standings. The Bisons'Â 21-under 831Â placed them four strokes ahead of sixth-place UTRGV.Â
