MUNCIE, Ind. – The Lipscomb (2-10) women’s basketball team came from behind in a thrilling second half as the Lady Bisons took down Ball State (6-4) for their first road win of the season.

Junior Meredith Lovelady swished a deep three-pointer with just 18 seconds left to play to give Lipscomb a 77-74 lead. Fellow junior Auriana Broughton then iced the win with a free throw to put the Lady Bisons ahead by four with eight seconds remaining.

The win was the first road victory over a Division I team for the Lady Bisons since November 15, 2015 when Lipscomb took down Georgia Southern 66-55 in Statesboro, ending a 21-game losing streak in that department.

Lipscomb ended the first half down 34-25, before storming back to win the second half 53-40.

Junior Loren Cagle paced the team with 19 points, 11 assists, four rebounds, and four steals.

Junior Loshaveon Jones scored a new Lipscomb career-high 18 points on 9-11 shooting.

Lovelady scored 15 points of her own, hitting 3-5 three-pointers, including the game-winner.

Senior Alex Banks added nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

“I’m really proud for them. They’ve continued to work hard and bring great attitudes to practice.

“Our rebounding effort was really good tonight. We did a very good job of communicating and making plays when we they were needed. We felt more efficient on offense.

“Meredith did a good job of maintaining poise in the final seconds. Lo came off the ballscreen and made a good read. Mer caught it ready and made a great play.”

• Renee Bennett led the Cardinals with 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Carmen Grande added 10 points and 12 assists.
• Lipscomb won the rebounding battle 41-28, while Ball State dished out 23 assists to the Lady Bisons’ 17.

• Cagle earned the fourth double-double of her career, all of which have been point-assist based.
• This was the ninth road game in 12 games so far this season for Lipscomb, who will now play six consecutive home games.
