HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team opened the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in ninth place after 36 holes of action on Saturday in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
The Bisons began the 54-hole event with a +26, 602 (304-298). No. 18 South Florida dominated the first day of action with a -18, 586 (288-280).
Inside the Herd:
- Dawson Armstrong led the way for the Bisons with a +1, 145. The sophomore opened the day with a +3, 75 before rallying with a -2, 70 to finish the day in a tie for 12th.
- Stoney Crouch followed behind Armstrong with a +6, 150 (74-76) to tie for 33rd.
- Eric Ansett sits tied for 53rd after shooting rounds of 80 and 73 with a +9, 153.
- Mikey Feher finished the afternoon just one stroke back of Ansett in a tie for 55th with a +10, 154.
- Hunter Howell rounded out the competitors for the Bisons with a +16, 160 (81-79) to tie for 74th.
- South Florida’s Chase Koepka sits atop the leaderboard with a -7, 137 (70-67) after the first rounds. He leads Alabama State’s Branson Ferrier and Matthew Lowe by two strokes.
- The final round of 18 will get underway on Sunday morning at 7:15 a.m. in the “Sunshine State”.
