Hot-shooting FGCU takes down women's hoops on road

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast (21-7, 10-1) started off the game hot from behind-the-arc and never looked back as the Lipscomb (5-21, 2-9) women’s basketball fell on the road to the conference-leading Eagles 90-58 in Alico Arena on Monday night.

FGCU nearly set a school record from deep, shooting 20-48 from the three-point line and building an early lead that the Lady Bisons could not overcome.

Junior Loshaveon Jones led Lipscomb in scoring with 10 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.

Senior Alex Banks nearly notched a double-double with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds to go along with one steal and one block.

Junior Loren Cagle added six points, five rebounds, and a team-high three assists.

Head Coach Greg Brown’s Thoughts:

“We talked about what we could learn from this game and carry with us into the last three regular season games.

“We weren’t able to move the ball like we did against Stetson and make FGCU play to second and third options.”

  • Five Eagles finished in double-figures: Haley Laughter (21), Jessica Cattani (21), Nasrin Ulel (13), Tytionia Adder;y (12), and Taylor Gradinjan (12).
  • Lipscomb was out-rebounded 40-27 and lost the assist battle 23-6.
  • The two teams tied with 20 points in the paint apiece.
  • Nine of the 12 Lady Bisons who entered the game scored a basket.
