Women's hoops handed first ASUN loss at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb (5-12, 1-1) women’s basketball team received its first conference loss on Saturday afternoon as Jacksonville (12-5, 2-0) won 70-48 at Swisher Gymnasium.

The Lady Bisons struggled on offense against the Dolphins’ stout defense, shooting just 14-53 from the field for the contest.

Redshirt-freshman Emily Kmec led the team with 10 points and four rebounds.

Sophomore Lauren Rau added nine points, a team-high six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Senior Loren Cagle notched nine points, four rebounds, four of the team’s six assists, and a team-best five steals.

Freshman Taylor Clark contributed seven points and three boards, while senior Loshaveon Jones notched five points, three rebounds, and two steals.

  • Three Dolphins finished in double-figures: Jasmyn Brown (22), Brandi Buie (17), and Shakayla Nevitt (10).
  • The Lady Bisons swiped 12 steals.
  • Lipscomb was out-rebounded 44-36, and lost the assist battle 21-6.
  • Eight Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes: Cagle (with a team-high 38 minutes played), Rau, Kmec, Clark, Jones, Kennedy Potts, Lexi Manos, and Kaylee Cotton.
  • Lipscomb forced 18 turnovers and gave up 19.
