Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team lost a road outing at Austin Peay on Thursday night as the Lady Bisons fell 70-58 at the Winfield Dunn Center.
After a strong start to the game from the Govs, Lipscomb (2-5) came out firing in the second and third quarters, outscoring APSU 29-26 in the middle periods.
However, Austin Peay (4-3) closed out the final frame with a 23-point quarter to earn the win.
Sophomore Taylor Clark led Lipscomb with 14 points and seven rebounds. She also shot a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Redshirt-sophomore Emily Kmec splashed in 12, all from three-point range, to go along with four rebounds and three steals.
Junior Lauren Rau collected 10 points, six assists, and three steals in her return from injury.
Freshman Jane Deason added nine points on a 3-5 mark from behind the arc.
Freshman Kailey Rosenbaum also scored nine on a perfect 4-4 from the field.
BISON TIDBITS:
- Clark has scored in double-figures in all five games she has played this season.
- Rau’s six assists are the most any Lady Bison has dished out this year.
- Lipscomb continues to pile up steals this season. Rau and Kmec led the team with three each, while Deason swiped two.
- Ari Gonzalez-Varner paced the Govs with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Four other Govs scored in double-figures.
- APSU out-rebounded the Lady Bisons 37-19, and notched 16 assists to Lipscomb’s 11.
- Lipscomb shot a nearly perfect 11-12 mark from the charity stripe.
- Eight Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes: Kmec with a team-high 36 minutes, Rau, Deason, Clark, Rosenbaum, and juniors Lexi Manos, Anna Hammaker, and Carleigh Short.
