Women's basketball clinches No. 4 seed in ASUN Championship

DELAND, Fla. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team fell on the road at Stetson on Monday night 91-71, but despite the loss the Lady Bisons clinched the fourth seed and home court advantage in the ASUN Tournament.

Lipscomb (10-18, 6-7) was led by senior Loren Cagle with 23 points on 7-18 shooting, including 6-11 from three-point range. The point guard also notched three assists and a block.

Senior Loshaveon Jones joined Cagle in double-figures, notching 13 points on 6-9 shooting. She also had two steals and a block on defense.

Sophomore Lauren Rau dished out a team-high six assists and swiped a team-best four steals.

Freshman Taylor Clark added eight points and a team-high five rebounds.

As it stands right now, with one game remaining in the regular season, Lipscomb would face North Florida at home in the first round of the ASUN Tournament. It will be the first time Lipscomb has hosted a first round game in 10 years.

 

QUICK HITS:

  • Five Hatters finished in double-figures: Jessica Catani (20), Rosemarie Julien (17), Taylor Gradinjan (12), and Nasrin Ulel (10).
  • The Eagle out-rebounded Lipscomb 46-27, and Lady Bisons lost the assist battle 23-11.
  • 11 Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes. Cagle led with a team-high 28 minutes.
  • Lipscomb forced 15 turnovers and gave up 16.

 

UP NEXT: The Lady Bisons will end the regular season at home against Kennesaw State at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. Senior Night festivities will take place before the game.
