Box Score

NASHVILLE – It came down to the wire on Saturday afternoon, but a depleted Lipscomb women’s basketball team pulled out their first ASUN win of the season by defeating Jacksonville 61-58 in Allen Arena.

The Lady Bisons (3-20, 1-9) only had seven players dressed out, but the squad pulled through with a gritty win, their first over the Dolphins (12-12, 5-6) in the last 11 meetings.

Lipscomb came out on fire in the first half, pulling ahead 37-20 at the halftime break. But the Dolphins nearly staged a second-half comeback, outscoring the Lady Bisons by 14 in the second half.

Redshirt sophomore Emily Kmec made the play of the afternoon with under a minute to play. Kmec deflected a Dolphins inbound pass, grabbed the errant ball, and bounced it off of the JU player forcing a turnover. The play ended a 7-0 Dolphins run in the final minutes of action.

Junior Carleigh Short paced the Lady Bisons with a career-high 22 points on an efficient 7-13 shooting, including 4-10 from three-point range.

In total, three Lady Bisons set career-highs in the win, with freshmen Kailey Rosenbaum and Taylor Hammack also setting career marks.

Rosenbaum finished with 16 points on 7-11 shooting with seven rebounds.

Hammack added five points, four rebound, and a team-high four assists.

Kmec nearly earned a double-double with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds. She also had the team’s only block.
