Box Score NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb men’s soccer team started off ASUN play on a high note on Saturday night as the Bisons took down Jacksonville 1-0 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
A 35th-minute strike from Ruben Pedersen gave the Purple and Gold the 1-0 lead.
After a setup from John Wynia, Pedersen rocketed in a shot for the first goal of his career. The assist was Wynia’s first of the season as well.
Lipscomb went on the defense for the remaining 65 minutes, which doubled down after freshman goalkeeper Michael Sibley was sent off for a red card in the 52nd minute.
Fellow freshman Alex Brown stepped up to make two huge saves off the bench, preserving Lipscomb’s shutout despite only have 10 men on the field for the final 38 minutes.
The win, the Bisons first in Nashville on the season, gives the team a key one-game leg up in the ASUN standings as things head deeper into conference play.
