Countdown to Tipoff: 3 days until Bison Basketball

After months of uncertainty with no timetable of when we would next see the Lipscomb Bisons back game action after the ASUN Conference postponed its fall season, clarity came in mid-September when the NCAA approved a Nov. 25 start to the college basketball season.

We are tracking the dwindling days to a long-awaited tipoff by matching the countdown clock to corresponding numbers of the men's basketball team. It's now GAME WEEK, and we are three days from tipping it up inside Allen Arena. We continue the series with a newcomer for Bison fans, No. 3 – Romeao Ferguson.

The 6-foot-5 guard transferred to Nashville in the offseason as a graduate student from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, where he was a First Team All-Conference selection and was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Conference Carolinas. He also earned Second Team NABC All-District honors.
 
Ferguson helped the Crusaders to a second-straight 20-win season and a 2nd-place finish in the league, going 21-10 overall and 14-6 in conference.
 
He averaged 17.9 points, a team-high 7.3 rebounds and a league-best 4.7 assists on 54.9 percent shooting. He pulled down seven double-doubles and netted 11 double-digit scoring games, including a career high 29 points against King University last January.
 
Played a major role in leading the Crusaders to their third-straight trip to the Conference Carolinas Championship Final, and helped Belmont Abbey to its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2013 after earning an at-large bid as the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Regional just days before the basketball world was shut down in March.
 
Ferguson finished top-10 in the Conference Carolinas in 12 different statistical categories last season: total assists (1st – 141), assists per game (1st - 4.7), total minutes (2nd – 1023), minutes per game (2nd – 34.1), defensive rebounds (2nd – 184), field goals made (3rd – 201/366), total rebounds (3rd – 220), scoring (4th – 17.9), total points (5th – 537), rebounds per game (5th – 7.3), three-point percentage (7th – 45.1) and field goal percentage (9th – 54.9). 
 
Over the last two seasons, he led Belmont Abbey to a 44-18 combined mark and looks to bring plenty of veteran leadership to the Bisons in 2020-21.
