NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's basketball team earned their first win of the season on Monday night, defeating Covenant 75-37 in their 2020-21 Allen Arena debut.
12 different Lady Bisons scored in the win, led by 13 points from freshman Jordan Peete. Dorie Harrison collected her first double-double at Lipscomb with 12 points (5-8 shooting) and 10 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bisons (1-1) opened up an early lead on Covenant (0-4) and never looked back. Lipscomb led 17-8 after the first quarter, but it was the second frame where they busted the game wide open.
The Purple and Gold went on a 13-0 run in the middle part of the second quarter, leading to a 36-21 lead at the break. The run was punctuated by back-to-back triples from Peete. She finished 3-8 from behind the arc for the night.
The Second half saw the Lady Bisons pull away from the game, outsourcing the Scots 22-9 in the third period. Lipscomb finished off the fourth with a 17-7 difference to earn their first win of the season.

The Lady Bisons won the rebounding battle 48-40. Harrison's 10 boards led the team, while junior Kailey Rosenbaum tied her career high with seven and sophomore Jalyn Holcomb snatched six.

Lipscomb made 21 trips to the free throw line, converting 11. Senior Taylor Clark led the way with a 3-4 mark.

The Lady Bisons forced 23 turnovers, while they had only nine turnovers of their own.

The Purple and Gold tallied 12 steals, with sophomore Casey Collier setting a career high with four swipes.

Freshman Diana Saleh scored the first three points of her Lipscomb career with a bucket and a free throw.

Redshirt-sophomore Gracie Simpson hit her first career three-pointer.

All 13 Lady Bisons on the roster played in the home opener. Senior Lindsey Whiteside notched the most minutes played with 21. She also scored a Lipscomb career high with seven points.
