Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Logan Butts

Clark's fourth-quarter heroics lead Lipscomb past Morehead State

NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's basketball team won a thriller in Allen Arena on Thursday afternoon as the Lady Bisons defeated Morehead State 79-73 thanks to the fourth quarter heroics of senior Taylor Clark

Clark finished with a team-high 24 points (10-18 shooting), but she wasn't the only Lady Bison to finish in double-figures. Sydney Shelton (14), Casey Collier (13), and Jalyn Holcomb (12) all hit double digits as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Bisons (2-1) came out firing, taking an early 11-2 lead in the first quarter. Lipscomb and Morehead State (1-4) went back and forth for most of the first quarter, with the Eagles pulling ahead 20-17 after one.

But that's when the three-pointers began to rain from the sky as Shelton and Collier led their own 14-0 run to pull ahead in the second period. Shelton had 11 total in the quarter. At halftime, Lipscomb led 43-31.

Morehead State went on a pair of runs of their own in the third, dominating the quarter and pulling ahead 62-58 heading into the final frame of regulation.

That's when it became Taylor Clark time. The senior scored 12 points in the fourth, 10 of which came in the last three minute of the game. Lipscomb closed out the game strong to earn their second straight win at home.
