Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Logan Butts

Women's basketball falls at Middle Tennessee in third game in four days

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women's basketball team closed out a busy stretch of action with an 84-64 loss at Middle Tennessee. The game was their third in four days and fourth of the week.

Sydney Shelton paced the Lady Bisons with 15 points, the most she has scored in the Purple and Gold. Jalyn Holcomb added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor Clark notched 12 points and five rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Bisons (3-2) started out strong, trading blows with Middle Tennessee (2-3) for most of the first half.

But a 9-0 run late in the second quarter pushed MT's lead out heading into the break. Lipscomb beat the buzzer thanks to a coast-to-coast play from Casey Collier who set up Clark for a last-second basket, cutting the MT lead to 38-29 heading into halftime.

Lipscomb came out in the third quarter with a couple of timely buckets, but the Lady Bisons were unable to stop Anastasia Hayes who scored 35 of MT's 84 points.

The Purple and Gold went basket-for-basket with MT in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Blue Raiders lead.
