Knoxville, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women's basketball team returned from Christmas break with a trip to Knoxville to take on the Lady Vols, falling 77-52 against in head coach Lauren Sumski and assistant coach Ariel Massengale's return to Tennessee.
Senior Taylor Clark led the way for Lipscomb, notching 14 points on 5-12 shooting with five rebounds, both team-high marks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bisons (3-3) kept up with the mighty Lady Vols early on, trading buckets before UT widened their lead at the end of the first quarter.
A sluggish second quarter, where Tennessee outscored Lipscomb just 10-8, led to a 36-19 halftime deficit for the Lady Bisons.
Following a one-point first half, Clark came out of the break on a mission scoring 13 points in the third quarter to attempt to cut into the UT lead.
Ultimately, Tennessee's length and strength proved too much for Lipscomb to overcome.
