LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Lipscomb women's basketball team opened up ASUN play on Saturday afternoon with an 88-59 loss at Liberty.
Freshman Jordan Peete led the team in scoring off the bench with 12 points, while Taylor Clark (11) and Jalyn Holcomb (10) also scored in double-figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bisons (3-4) played tight with the Flames early on, cutting a 10-point Liberty lead down to just four at the beginning of the second quarter.
A 13-0 Liberty run just before halftime halted Lipscomb's momentum, pushing the Flames lead to 44-27 at the break.
Lipscomb had a hole to dig out of in the second half, so they came out firing by hitting three of their 10 three-pointers for the game in succession in the third quarter.
But the lead the Flames had built up was too far out of reach, leading the Bisons to an 0-1 start in conference play despite winning the fourth quarter.
