SCOUTING FGCU
- FGCU comes to Nashville 8-19 overall and 5-7 in league play after splitting the last two decisions with Kennesaw State (W 70-58) and North Florida (L 69-60).
- The Eagles have two of the league's top-four assist leaders in Jalen Warren (2nd; 96) and Caleb Catto (4th; 72) as FGCU is the lone school with a pair in the top-four.
- FGCU leads the ASUN in blocked shots (108) due in large part to Justus Rainwater (34), Dakota Rivers (28) and Brian Thomas (21) as the Eagles are the only team with two in the top-seven let alone three.
- Catto is the team's leading scorer as he averages 12.6 on the year; the sophomore has been the Eagles' leading scorer in eight of their last 10 games including four 20-plus outings during that stretch.
- Statistically, Justus Rainwater leads the Eagles in shooting at 65.4 percent from the field which would lead the ASUN but he does not meet the minimum number of shot attempts.
- Zach Scott is tied for the ASUN lead in steals with 38 on the year while Tracy Hector leads the team with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.
HERD NOTES
- Lipscomb is coming off three-straight wins at North Alabama (73-71) and Kennesaw State (72-66) last weekend and a 77-63 victory over NJIT on Thursday.
- Those victories put the Bisons into fourth place in the ASUN standings at 11-14 overall and 6-6 in league games. They became the fourth conference team to clinch a spot in next month’s ASUN Championship.
- Lipscomb holds a 14-11 edge in the all-time series with FGCU despite dropping the previous two contests by a combined 13 points.
- Against ASUN Conference foes the last three years, Lipscomb has a 35-13 (.729) record including a 5-1 (.833) mark in ASUN Championship games.
- Ahsan Asadullah continued his season-long campaign for ASUN Player of the Year in the wins, averaging 24.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG and 3.3 APG on 65% shooting. He is the only player ranked in the top-3 of the ASUN in both scoring (17.3 – 2nd) and rebounding (9.6 – 3rd).
- Even with 10 double-doubles and 11 games of 10+ rebounds this season, Asadullah has been just as impressive when looking for his teammates out of the post. His 3.7 assists per game rank second in the conference.
- In fact, he is THE ONLYplayer in the country in Division I that is averaging a line of at least 16.0 PPG, 9.0 RPG and 3.5 APG. Since the 1992-93 season there have only been 18 other instances where a player in D-I finished with that line.
- In conference games only, Asadullah has been even better, averaging a double-double (20.1 PPG – 1st), (10.0 RPG – 3rd) and (4.4 APG – 2nd).
- Freshman KJ Johnson has found his scoring groove again after coming off the bench. He gave the Bisons a spark at UNA with 15 points, then followed it up with 20 points at Kennesaw State and 12 against NJIT.
- Johnson is second on the Bisons squad with 12.3 points per game; that average is also third among ASUN freshmen on the year and ranks 12th in the conference.
- Lipscomb has secured double-digit conference win totals in each of the last three years with a high of 14 a year ago; the Bisons have finished with at least a .500 conference record every year dating back to the 2013-14 season.
