BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its All-Decade Awards for men's basketball on Tuesday, and
Lennie Acuff was named the GSC Coach of the Decade.
The awards factor in the years 2011-20 and were jointly selected by institutional personnel, coaches, and league administrators. The GSC's release and complete list of honorees, along with a description of their accomplishments, can be found at the link

"I am extremely humbled and honored to be recognized by the Gulf South Conference," Acuff said. "It was a privilege to compete in one of the top leagues in the country for 22 years. I am so thankful for all the amazing young men I had the opportunity to coach and for the tremendous assistant coaches that I was able to work with."
As the winningest coach in Gulf South Conference history,
Lennie Acuff has been named the GSC Coach of the Decade. He was tabbed the GSC Coach of the Year four times in the decade and NABC District Coach of the Year three times. He led the Chargers to the Elite Eight twice (2011 and 2012) to go along with five appearances in the Sweet Sixteen.
UAH advanced to the conference title game six times in the decade under Acuff and won three GSC Championships, while winning four regular season titles as well.
In the decade, Acuff compiled a 212-73 overall record with the Chargers for a .744 winning percentage. He posted a winning record in all nine seasons and won at least 23 games seven times.

In his storied career, Acuff has also been inducted into the Shorter University Hall of Fame, as well as the Huntsville/Madison County Hall of Fame.
"I will always cherish the memories we made as a basketball program and the amazing support we received from the Huntsville community," Acuff said. "It was a fantastic run that I was blessed to be a part of."
Acuff also coached the GSC's Player of the Decade in Josh Magette, who was a three-time all-conference selection and was named the GSC Co-Player of the Year in 2012.
On the national level, Magette earned multiple All-American honors and was named the 2012 Daktronics South Region Player of the Year. He was at his best in the postseason, guiding UAH to back-to-back Elite Eights, earning Most Outstanding Player honors in the South Regional each time. He was also the Most Outstanding Player of the 2012 GSC Championship and was recently named to the GSC Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
Magette continued his career in the NBA where he's played with both the Atlanta Hawks and the Orlando Magic. In September of 2017, Magette was signed to the Hawks as the team's first-ever two-way contract.
