NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's basketball team lit up the scoreboard on Saturday, winning the first ASUN home game of the 2020-21 campaign 84-72 against Bellarmine.
All five starters finished in double figures as the Lady Bisons set season highs for points scored and with 16 three-pointers made.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bisons (4-5) started the game on fire, out-scoring Bellarmine (0-6) 32-17 in the first quarter, their highest output for a single quarter on the season.
Lipscomb continued to pour it on the hoop in the second quarter. Jane Deason hit three three-pointers in the period to send the Lady Bisons into halftime up 54-37.
Sydney Shelton opened up the second half as she did the first, with one of her four three-pointers. But much of the second half saw Lipscomb struggling to score.
The Knights made a spirited effort at a comeback late, but Lipscomb was able to hold off the run with balanced scoring and three-point proficiency.

Deason led the team with a season-high 15 points on 5-8 shooting from three and added four rebounds.

Casey Collier scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, and tied for the team high with three assists.

Jalyn Holcomb also had 14 points on 3-5 from behind the arc and added four rebounds.

Shelton notched 14 points on a perfect 4-4 mark from three-point range. She also had three rebounds and tied for the lead with three assists.

Taylor Clark earned her first double-double of the season and fourth of her career with 13 points and team-highs with 10 rebounds and three assists.

Hilary James also tied with Clark, Shelton, and Collier with three assists.

As a whole, Lipscomb shot 16-32 from three-point range with six players hitting a triple.

Nine Lady Bisons played double-digit minutes, led by 31 from Clark.
