KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
  • Lee competes in NCAA's Division II as a member of the Gulf South Conference.
  • The Flames compiled a record of 16-6 in the 2019 season and competed in the NCAA Division II National Tournament where they lost to Embry-Riddle University in the first round.
  • Riley Henry, who transferred from Lipscomb after the 2018 season, returns for her senior season to lead the Flames. She led Lee with seven goals and six assists during the 2019 season.
HERD NOTES
  • Lipscomb will look to campaign towards its fourth-straight regular season title, third-consecutive ASUN championship, and third-consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament by opening play on Saturday.
  • The Bisons were picked to repeat as league champions in the preseason coaches poll. It was the second year in a row the league coaches voted Lipscomb as the preseason favorite.
  • Molly Grant, Katia Hanger, Logan McFadden and Cami Rogers garnered preseason All-Conference honors from the league.
  • Grant, a key cog for the high-powered Bison offense, was one of the most impactful players in the league in her first season in Nashville, earning a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman squad. With a hand in nearly one-third of Lipscomb's scoring last season, she returns as the top assister (7) and third-leading goal scorer (6) in the conference in 2021.
  • Hanger returns to the Bisons back line after a Second Team All-ASUN and All-Freshman selection in 2019. She was one of just seven Bisons to start all 21 matches and was a major player in helping anchor the league's stingiest defense that allowed a conference leading 0.89 goals against average and 10 shutouts.
  • After being forced to miss all of last season with an injury, McFadden, the 2018 ASUN Defender of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection is set to return in 2021 fully healthy. A stalwart defender, she is the only player in ASUN history to receive the Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman and was ranked the 55th best freshman in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer following the 2018 season.
  • Rogers will control the action in the midfield and look to improve off her impressive sophomore campaign. After finishing 2019 with three goals and five assists for a total of 11 points, she ranks in the top-five of returning ASUN players in every statistical category for attacking.
  • Melissa Gray is back and will lead the Bisons in the net as the primary goalkeeper. Last season she led the ASUN in shutouts (9), ranked first in Goals Against Avg (.79) and Save Percentage (.850), made 85 saves and allowed just 15 goals.
  • There are also plenty of new faces on the team this year. 11 of Lipscomb's 26 players are newcomers, including eight true freshmen.
  • The Bisons roster was also bolstered by adding three transfers in Kelli Beiler, Shelby Craft and Tori Wheeler. Beiler and Craft transferred from Penn State and Wheeler comes from Georgia.
